Custer Water has discovered a small leak in the system. Since school is out Monday, we have decided to do the repair tomorrow. Though we can't see the leak, chances are good we will be shutting the water off tomorrow (Monday 1/15) around 10 AM for approximately 2 hours. This will affect everyone East of the BNSF tracks and everyone north of Main Street.
I'm sure you are already aware, it is cold out and getting colder. Custer is expecting overnight lows in the single digits for the next couple days. We don't want anyone to experience broken pipes or leaks so we are sending this in the hope of helping.
Thank you for your help keeping the water flowing for all of us.
Custer Water Team
The water sample came back as good from the lab. The boil water advisory is officially over.
We will be flushing this weekend to get everything back to normal.
Thank you.
The lab has not reported the results of the water test yet. Thus, we are required to advise everyone who lost water pressure on Thursday (12/7) to continue to boil water intended for human consumption.
In talking with the water operator, we have decided to encourage everyone who lost water yesterday to boil any water you plan on drinking until Monday. This notice will be updated as more information is available. Thank you.
Custer Water was performing hydrant maintenance when an existing valve failed. To repair this failed valve will require shutting off nearly all water for a few hours today. Please be aware the water may turn off around 3 PM today.
UPDATE:
Due to the outage and needing to open a line, Custer Water has added chlorine to the water to sanitize the lines and are issuing a boil notice for all drinking water.
We will be having a lab test the water on Monday and after those results come back, we will lift the boil water notice.
We will be having our annual Custer Water Association meeting starting at 7pm on November 13th in the Custer Elementary School library.
We will discuss:
- Increasing the water share price.
- Eliminating the lower tier water rate.
- Reading meters every other month with billing also going bi-monthly
- Installing a filtration system
- All leaks that occurred and fire water usage.
- Reservoir cleaning and many other improvements.
Hope to see you there.
We have a water leak on Valley View Rd. We are working to repair it but, in the meantime, you may experience dirty water. Thank you for your patience.
Note - As of 4:45 PM, the leak has been repaired. Thank you again.
Custer Water will be performing a system flush this Saturday (7/15). You may experience lower water pressure, air in the system, and dirtier water during this time. Flushing will begin around 8am.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with flushing. We know the weather is going to be beautiful, but we could really use your help. Flushing will go from 8am and probably finish around 3 or 4; however, most of the hard work will be done by noon if you need to get out early. If you want to help, please meet us at the well head around 8am this Saturday and wear some boots or waterproof shoes. The well head is located on the East side of Olson Road just north of Grandview at 6926 Olson Road.
Today, there was another fire that resulted in the fire department using large quantities of our water. This often stirs up minerals within the pipes, which can cause discoloration. The minerals are not harmful and will settle in a day or two. Thanks for your understanding.
